Today was 4/20. I don't smoke, so I had different ideas for the idea. My first idea was to catch a nice sunrise and thus I set an early alarm the night before and got my homie G-schranze on board to come on the adventure. When I got out of bed, got ready, and finally opened my garage I was welcomed by a cloud covered sky. At this point I knew that the sunrise would be non existent, but, I was motivated and began to pedal over to Morton Park. From my humble adobe Morton Park is about a 20 minuted ride, not bad in the afternoon, but, at about 5:40 on my P3 with a 28-9 gear ratio I was struggling. By the time I arrived Greg was already there in his vehicle and we got shooting. Despite the early wake up and lack of breakfast, I had a jolly good time and am pretty stoked on a few of the photos. Once we finished shooting at about 8:00, my other came in clutch and picked me up. After a short visit at home to dump photos on my computer, I was off to the good ol' NSTAR jumps to meet up with a true grom and do some digging. NSTAR has been an interesting scene over the years. Initially the jumps were built about 15 years ago, at least thats what I am told, and my guess is that for about 10 years they were never touched. When I first rode them in Fall of 2015 they were tiny and SKETCHY. Immediately I spent a few months working on them and made a tad bit of progress, however, at this point the crew that was riding there consistently began to their spend time at the skatepark and the DJ scene died out. Up until this week I hadn't ridden or dug at the jumps and they were in rough shape. After about 3 hours of non stop digging everything got square edged and about a foot or two taller. I'd say they are rather dialed. Photos will come of the jumps in following blogs, I forgot to shoot when I was there. Upon completion of digging at the jumps, I headed home for a bit and gather some video equipment to finish shooting the video I am working on with Mikey Bernier. Unfortunately, once I arrived at the skatepark to start filming, Mikey let me know that he wasn't going to be able to make it. A bummer for sure. When I got this news it was about 1:00 and I figured I ride for most of the afternoon and figure something out later. In the end I rode hard for about 3 hours. At some point in the afternoon my buddy Ryan showed up at the park. Ryan used to live in plym and rode consistently, however, when he ended up moving to Weymouth and picked a camera his riding slowly faded out. It was certainly rad seeing him back on the bike and taking photography for a bit. Later on at about 7:00 my father, who had just returned from New York, picked me up and I spent the rest of the evening working on some edits. All in all it was a productive day. -Peter
